About

Managed by the UK's national cycling charity Sustrans, The Bristol and Bath Cycle Path is a 13-mile off-road route connecting the cities of Bristol and Bath.

The Bristol to Bath Cycle Path is open to cyclists and walkers, with access provided for disabled users. This easy walk or ride is many things to many people - an important commuting route, an attractive leisure path and crucial wildlife corridor.

On the Saltford section of the path, be sure to look out for woodpeckers, cormorants, kingfishers and herons.

The Bristol and Bath Cycle Path was constructed on the track bed of the former Midland Railway, which closed for passenger traffic at the end of the 1960s. Between 1979 and 1986, the railway line was converted into the cycle path you see today.

Some of the charming former stations along the path are still popular stopping points. They are also a source of historical interest, particularly to rail enthusiasts.

The path is a fully tarmacked surface and three metres wide from end to end. Along the route you can discover fascinating history, visit intriguing places, connect to other walking and cycle paths, or stop for refreshments at several points along the way.
