The past, present and future of Bath’s working life - from Roman tourism to 18th century building and Victorian engineering to modern high technology. From handloom weavers, builders, engineers and corset makers to the creative industries of the 21st century.
Displays include a reconstructed Bath Stone mine, 19th century soft drinks factory, Victorian engineering works, ironmonger's shop, cabinet maker's workshop, 1914 Horstmann car and an1851 Bath Chair all on show in an 18th century Real Tennis Court!
Light refreshments, souvenir shop, temporary exhibitions and children's play space. Free audioguides, machinery demonstrations and ten minute talks from the Museum staff every day! Check website for details.
Access information
The two main display galleries at the Museum of Bath at Work are fully accessible for all visitors. The ground floor (Hudson Gallery, stone mines and cabinet-making display, library & research room) is not accessible for wheelchair users and people with restricted mobility. There is a wheelchair lift to the top floor display gallery.
There is level access to the access door at the rear of the museum building. Please ring 01225 318348 when you arrive.
There are benches or chairs in all of our galleries and in the entrance area
There is a disabled-accessible toilet adjacent to the level access door on the main display floor. Other toilets are on the ground floor by the entrance.
Free audioguides are available to describe the displays.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the Museum.
