Shindig Festival returns for its eleventh year with an electrifying lineup and a fresh new location. Dubbed “a pint-sized version of Glastonbury,” this family-friendly event brings together an eclectic mix of international talent, immersive arts, and vibrant community spirit.

Music & Lineup

This year’s programme features a global showcase of rhythm and culture, where afrobeat meets electronic, reggae fuses with soul, and funk blends with industrial rap. Headliners include Gilles Peterson, Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, and Moonchild Sanelly, alongside dynamic performances from Asian Dub Foundation, Ibibio Sound Machine, Gentleman’s Dub Club, Dub FX, Mr Scruff ft. MC Kwasi, Dan Shake, and many more.

Hip-hop and rap enthusiasts can enjoy Toya Delazy, GROVE, Angry Blackmen, Suedejazz Collective, The Scribes, Afrocluster, and Bin Bag Wisdom, while The Shindig family can look forward to appearances from The Nextmen, A-Skillz, Krafty Kuts, Altern8, JFB, K.O.G., Channel One, Cut Capers, and Raz & Alfa, TC & The Groove Family.

Festival Theme

This year’s dress-up theme is “Love is the Answer”, encouraging festivalgoers to wear their hearts on their sleeves. The Saturday parade will celebrate unity, joy, and good vibes.

A Festival for All Ages

Shindig is known for its family-friendly atmosphere, offering a dedicated Kid’s Area packed with circus skills, climbing walls, space hoppers, sandpits, a graffiti wall, and DJ & breakdance workshops. The Craft Area will feature felt making, spoon whittling, woodworking, and jewellery workshops for all ages.

For those seeking relaxation, the healing field provides yoga, saunas, and massages, while award-winning street food vendors offer a variety of culinary delights. Boutique camping includes luxury accommodations, a private bar, and a pamper parlour.

Festivalgoers can engage with UK activists and festival pioneers, including Mark Angelo Harrison (Spiral Tribe co-founder), Pete Phoenix, and Luke Mitchell (founder of Wake the Tiger and Boomtown Festival).

A Fiercely Independent Spirit

Despite announcing 2024 as its final edition due to economic challenges, Shindig Festival has returned with renewed purpose. Organised by an eclectic team—including a DJ, a circus aerialist, a motorcycle stunt showman, an interior designer, and a festival stalwart—the event remains independent, community-focused, and full of creative energy.

With no main stages, the festival layout consists of stretch marquees, giant tipis, and hidden venues among the arboretum and secret playgrounds. It’s a space for both relaxation and revelry, offering an escape from everyday life.
