About

Nestling between the vibrant market towns of Bruton and Castle Cary, The Newt in Somerset is a working estate. The fertile soil of historic Hadspen has a sweep of ornamental and productive gardens, surrounded by hedged fields.

Orchards roll into the distance and ancient woodland is home to many-pointed stags. Regal British Whites stand solidly on the horizon. All under the watchful eye and loving care of their farmers, gardeners, butchers, bakers, cheesemakers, chefs and cyder makers. The passionate team work in harmony with land and livestock to produce delicious food for the table.

Their artisans are continually inspired by the changing seasons. They work with nature to look after the land, improve the welfare of the livestock and encourage wildlife. Working only with small-scale family farms, the team at The Newt believe this is the secret to happier, healthier, more sustainable, and much tastier quality produce.

From your humble vegetable to succulent meats and an array of sumptuous wines and fine living The Newt in Somerset online shop has a delightful array of products to live and breath their philosophy.

They prepare the food to order and deliver throughout the UK right to your doorstep.

The Creamery, Castle Cary

Don't miss The Newt's brand new trackside restaurant and working creamery celebrating the golden age of the Great British railway, based just 10 minutes' drive from the main site at Castle Cary railway station. The historic building is a community hub, serving travellers boarding or alighting trains from London Paddington and the West Country. Visitors can expect hearty dishes, grab and go, and a range of traditional soft cheese and yoghurt using fresh milk from the estate’s herd of water buffalo.
