About
Vale House Kitchen offers a one-day Beginners Fly Fishing Course, ideal for those looking to get to grips with this fantastic outdoor sport. Fly fishing, which involves casting an artificial 'fly' on a line, is often regarded as a challenging skill for beginners. That’s why all courses at Vale House Kitchen are guided by expert tutor Neil Keep, who brings forty years of fishing experience across the UK and is eager to share his tips and tricks.
Skills:
- How to set up the tackle and understand its function
- How to make a safe fly cast
- Choosing the right fly and basic entomology (the study of fly life)
- Various fishing techniques
- Playing and landing fish (what to do once a fish is hooked)
The Beginners Fly Fishing course kicks off with a briefing at the stunning Manningford Trout lakes, led by renowned fly-fishing instructor Neil Keep. Once out in the fresh air, Neil will guide participants through the essential skills needed to master casting, helping them choose the correct fly to entice a trout. With Neil’s supervision and expertise, attendees will spend the day fishing, with hopes of landing a few for the table. A delicious lunch will be provided for all participants.
For those interested in further exploring trout, a related article in FoodLover Magazine, written by Vale House Kitchen’s very own Bod Griffiths, is available here: FoodLover Magazine Trout Article.
Additionally, participants who complete the course and wish to extend their experience can enjoy a 10% discount on the Fish Cookery Day. This course provides the opportunity to gain confidence in preparing and cooking fresh fish, covering everything from sustainable sourcing and basic preparation skills to creating delicious recipes. Those interested in this offer are encouraged to contact Vale House Kitchen for more details.
