About

The George is an historic 14th-century Grade I listed Tudor inn, located in the heart of Norton St. Philip, near Bath.

With a history dating back to 1397, The George is one of Britain’s oldest taverns, offering 13 charming ensuite bedrooms full of original features and the perfect base to explore the village, Bath and the Somerset surroundings.

On the menu, our focus is seasonal, locally sourced produce and exciting takes on pub classics, with a cracking selection of award-winning Butcombe beer behind the bar.

Outside you can relax and unwind in our beautiful beer garden, with spectacular views across Norton St Philip and the surrounding countryside.

Nearby must-see attractions include Longleat Safari Park, Stonehenge, and the Roman Baths.
