If you like a sweeter coffee, head to this speciality chocolate shop, where you can build your own mocha or hot chocolate with their range of different cocoa mixes and additional flavours such as sea salt, orange, spices or even herbs!

The Courtyard Café

This café's namesake courtyard, Lilliput Court, is just a short distance from Bath Abbey, but is tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded. With an extensive menu serving brunch (look out for their stand-out waffles), lunch, afternoon tea and hot drinks – with a wide range of loose leaf teas – cosy up inside or take in the historic surroundings outside in The Courtyard Café's heated seating area.

Boston Tea Party

Take your pick from two great locations to enjoy a coffee at Boston Tea Party. Grab a table outside and take in the hustle and bustle of Kingsmead Square, or relax in their light and airy Alfred Street café, close to the elegant Assembly Rooms. Last year they hit the headlines for the right reasons in banning single-use coffee cups in their cafés, so remember to take your own, or borrow one as part of their loan scheme.

The Colombian Company

Opened by owner Jhampoll Gutierrez with a view to bringing a taste of his native Colombia to Bath, The Colombian Company pride themselves on serving the best that the country has to offer in terms of coffee. The speciality green coffee beans they import are grown on small farms and are ethically sustainable and fairly traded, making top quality drinks.

Colonna & Small's

Passionate about all things coffee, the baristas at Colonna & Small's, on Chapel Row, really know their stuff, or beans. The place to be if you appreciate a good brew yourself, expect changing menus based on seasonality and flavours from a variety of countries.

Society Café

With one café in The Corridor and another on Kingsmead Square, Society Café's speciality coffees change based on seasonality, with a range of guest roasts changing weekly. Indulge in their tempting range of pastries and cakes, from croissants to brownies, and homemade sandwiches made with the best ingredients from local suppliers.

Good Day Cafe

With an eye-catching, aesthetic interior – think neon brights and cacti – plus great food and drink to match, Good Day Cafe is the perfect spot to enjoy a mid-morning pick-me-up. Expect freshly cooked brunches and lunches alongside tempting pastries and the all-important coffee. Keep an eye out for their signature pink-beetroot super-latte if you're feeling adventurous!

Mokoko Coffee

Take a break from sightseeing in Abbey Churchyard at Mokoko Coffee. Tuned into the subtle and subjective nature of different people's tastes in coffee, Mokoko focus on buying the right beans and paying attention to small details in crafting each and every cup. 

Cascara

Located on Upper Borough Walls, Cascara is a vegan café offering a range of delicious plant-based plates. From yoghurt bowls to toast and toppings, plus soups and wholesome salads, you can also enjoy a slice of vegan cake alongside a cup of warming speciality coffee or loose leaf tea.

Cafe Lucca

Located on the picturesque Bartlett Street, Cafe Lucca is an Italian-influenced café-restaurant with a Bath flair. Pop in for everything from breakfast to lunch, and afternoon tea to coffee, in addition to their homemade cakes, they also serve hearty salads, flavourful paninis and bruschetta, and seasonal quiches and terrines.
