It may still be winter, but there are plenty of family-friendly events and activities to keep everyone entertained in Bath and beyond this February half-term, whatever the weather!
Let the kids get crafty at the Herschel Museum of Astronomy, where there's a chance to make their very own whirligig toy and puzzle purse, or at The Holburne Museum's half term workshops, where they can have a go at making spring flower collages and hanging mobiles, as well as printing calico bags.
Embark on a brand new adventure trail at The Roman Baths, where children can solve clues to discover more about the people who lived, worked and played in the city during Roman times as they explore the historic site.
Jump start your February half term at Mary Shelley's House of Frankenstein, with two themed Escape Rooms, screenings of the first ever Frankenstein film made in 1910 and a creepy walkthrough basement experience for those who dare! The museum is open daily and offers great discounts for students, families and groups.
With Lunar New Year taking place during half term this year, celebrate one of the most important dates on the East Asian calendar at The Assembly Rooms. Not only will you be greeted with a traditional lion dance, you'll also learn the history and customs of the festival, with workshops and trails run by the Museum of East Asian Art. There's even a pop-up planetarium, where the Herschel Museum team will explore stories about the cosmos linked to the dragon and the moon.
Outside the city, enjoy a fun-filled day out at Wookey Hole, where you can venture underground in the caves, watch a new film in the 4D cinema, marvel at a circus show in the theatre, challenge each other to a game of adventure golf, and savour a meal in the on-site restaurant, where kids eat free throughout half term. Nearby, journey back in time to a Stone Age winter at Cheddar Gorge and Caves, or head to Haynes Motor Museum, where you can build your wackiest four-wheeled creation using LEGO bricks at their Brick Week event.
Buy a full-priced ticket at Wookey Hole or Cheddar Gorge & Caves, and you'll enjoy 20% off at four other South West attractions, including Noah's Ark Zoo Farm, Brean Leisure Park, West Country Water Park, and Puxton Park - find out more here.
There's also ample opportunity to stretch your legs in the great outdoors around Bath this half term. Take the kids nature-spotting at Prior Park Landscape Garden, follow the winter family trail at Westonbirt Arboretum, or bask in a beautiful snowdrop display at The Bishop's Palace in Wells.
