About

Inspired by the poem written by Maya Angelou, 'Phenomenal Woman', the Gainsborough Hotel launched a series in 2018 inviting women from all backgrounds who have achieved recognition and made a significant impact in their field to share their experiences and challenges encountered in their path to success.

The first 'Phenomenal Women' guest speaker for 2025 is Eleanor Mills on Thursday 23rd of January.

Eleanor Mills is a campaigner, Founder, bestselling-author and award-winning editor. Her book Much More to Come: Lessons on the Mayhem and Magnificence of Midlife, published by HarperCollins in August 2024 is a Times bestseller and she is the founder of Noon.org.uk – Home of the Queenager (a term she coined to rebrand midlife!).

Her mission is to change the narrative around older women in our culture to something more positive and fit for purpose – to do that she became an entrepreneur at 50 setting up www.noon.org.uk, a community for midlife women with a 50k reach. For 23 years Eleanor was a senior editor on The Sunday Times where she was Editorial Director, Editor of The Sunday Times Magazine, a columnist and interviewed everyone from Theresa May and Sheryl Sandberg to Harry Styles and the Dalai Lama. She was Chair of Women in Journalism UK from 2014-2021.
